60 years after winning the featherweight title , on December 22, 1964, boxer Andreino Silanos (1938 – 2020) has a square named after him . He marked an era in Italian and European boxing, competing as a professional in 33 matches, of which he won 29.

A symbol of sport that has brought the name of Alghero around the world and the Municipality of Alghero wanted to honour him by dedicating to him a public space enclosed between the streets XX Settembre, Barracu, Mazzini and De Curtis which is called, precisely, “Piazzale Andreino Silanos” .

This morning the naming ceremony with the Silanos family and many citizens . "Andreino Silanos has left an indelible mark on our community, both in the sports and social fields", said Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto. "It is very significant for me to name a square in his honor, for the great example he has left us and future generations," continued the mayor, "he has transmitted the true values of sport , respect for people and opponents, the importance of sacrifice. Today we remember him with gratitude because he is a model for everyone."
