The Region extends a hand to the fishermen of Oristano to save "their" environmental paradises today in agony due to the lack of water exchange. A situation that with the rise in temperatures could lead to serious environmental damage and to the coffers of the Consortia. In fact, operators have spoken several times of imminent die-offs. The Region promises an immediate breath of fresh air thanks to the intervention of the Consorzio di Bonifica, an entity to which the Regional Council has entrusted the works in the compendiums of Corru s'Ittiri, S'Ena Arrubia and Is Benas thanks to the availability of 10 million euros.

During the technical meeting held on Friday at the headquarters of the regional Department of Environmental Protection, to address the serious environmental criticality affecting the lagoon areas, the implementation of urgent and extraordinary measures was announced, necessary to contain the consequences, already serious, on the lagoon system and on local productive activities. The measure identified consists in the controlled opening of a gap in the channels at the mouth of the sea, with the aim of restoring water exchange and improving oxygenation in stagnant areas. A low-impact and highly effective environmental measure, which can be implemented quickly. This is what the Cagliari offices say.

"This is an important result, obtained thanks to the collaboration of all the subjects involved in various capacities - the Department of Environmental Protection informs - and to the effective dialogue between institutions that has allowed us to analyze the availability of sustainable paths aimed exclusively at protecting the territory and safeguarding the natural and productive heritage".
