The Todde Council is working to finalize the law on areas suitable for the installation of renewable energy systems.

The intention is to give the first approval by mid-September , and then bring it to the attention of the regional council.

While the measure is still being developed, the regional councilor for Local Authorities and Urban Planning Francesco Spanedda gives the first previews of the "map". As suitable - he explained - will be considered, among others, "areas that do not require land consumption, those already compromised and residual", while among the unsuitable areas will be considered "areas on which ministerial indications have already arrived and those specific to our Island". Furthermore, other particular areas will be "unsuitable", such as for example the crests of the hills, necessary in the operations of extinguishing fires and which therefore must not be characterized by anything that is an "obstacle".

Spanedda spoke at the hearing, in the competent Commissions of the Regional Council, on the day in which the majority indicated the energy issue as a priority with Governor Todde who announced the law that provides for the mapping by September 20th.

"The law on suitable areas will clarify where renewable energy plants can be built," Spanedda explained to the microphones of Videolina's Tg. Four levels will be established: suitable, unsuitable, ordinary and restricted areas. "It will also be up to the law," Spanedda explained, "to decide the fate of a single site if it is located both within suitable and unsuitable areas. In general, we think unsuitability will prevail."
