Criticism of the municipal administration of Villasimius by the citizens themselves (especially on social media) for the lackluster Christmas holidays and for a New Year's Eve that would not have been up to the standards of a town, precisely, like Villasimius. Criticism rejected by the mayor Gianluca Dessì who in a video posted on the pages of the Municipality defends his actions.

"We organized parties especially for children - he explains - it is unthinkable to reach the levels of New Year's Eve in towns that have suitable spaces for concerts". Furthermore, "we were attacked for the lights because some wanted them yellow, some red, some dangling. Unfortunately, criticism is made regardless". For Dessì, however, "it is absolutely not true that the Municipality has done nothing, only regarding the events in 2024 there were 64".

The mayor then goes on to the long list of works done over the last year: among the many, the recovery of the Porto Giunco tower, the granite in the center, the roundabouts . And again: the resolution of the Cava Usai problem, the positioning of 200 linear meters of walkways, the guardrails in Via degli Oleandri and Via Cagliari. And therefore "criticizing just for the sake of criticizing does not bring good results - concludes Dessì - indeed it stains the name of our citizenship. Let's not describe ourselves as an abandoned town or a ghost town. In ten years we have gone from less than half a million to over 750 thousand presences".
