Matteo Demuro, the Cagliari native who died yesterday at the age of 36 on the old Orientale Sarda, also in December but in 2019, survived another terrible accident. Saved by a miracle, declared out of danger after several days of hospitalization at Brotzu and a delicate surgical operation that had saved him. Yesterday, however, the tragedy at Campu Omu that cost him his life: he died instantly after flying into a ravine, following a head-on collision with a car traveling in the opposite direction .

The latest tragedy on the old Orientale Sarda occurred at kilometer 31 in the Arcu 'e Tidu area, near the crossroads for Burcei . In 2019, however, the other accident involving Matteo Demuro occurred in via Vesalio, in Pirri. It was 3:30 pm on Christmas Eve and the motorcyclist, while he was heading towards the car wash he managed, was seriously injured in a collision with a truck coming from via della Giovane Italia . A terrifying impact, which according to reconstructions at the time was caused by a maneuver by the driver of the truck, with the motorcycle completely destroyed.

Demuro, taken to the hospital with a red code, had undergone emergency surgery on his leg once at Brotzu. He had managed to recover and get back on his motorbike, his great passion . Until yesterday's tragic crash, on which the Highway Police are currently investigating to clarify the dynamics and any responsibilities.
