Following requests from the regional councilor for Transport Barbara Manca, the Moby company announces the extraordinary Ajaccio-Porto Torres route for Saturday. Thus ends, at least for now, the Bastia-Livorno and Livorno-Olbia about-face, for the Sardinians stuck in Corsica.

And while the restoration work on the Giraglia motor vessel, operating on the Bonifacio-Santa Teresa route, continues (the times for the reopening of the connection are not yet clear), the maritime carrier announces the official ferry schedules for the next few hours: Porto Torres-Ajaccio (departure at 9.00, arrival at 12.30) returning to Porto Torres at 18.30 with departure at 14.00.

For passengers in possession of a regular ticket, relating to the trips not made due to the breakdown of the Giraglia, the possibility of boarding without any additional cost. But Moby also specifies that « it will be possible to submit a request for reimbursement for the costs incurred by each passenger due to the cancellation of the trips » with the information available «on the Moby website, where a special banner will be created that will allow easy retrieval of all the information and via the call center at the number 0276028132» .

" As I stated on Tuesday 19 November, the disruptions caused by Moby on this route are very serious - commented Councillor Barbara Manca -. Dozens and dozens of passengers, stuck and without answers, have contacted us expressing their discomfort and frustration with the ongoing situation. My solidarity and the closeness of the Sardinia Region go to them".

Manca adds: « We immediately moved to find a solution to the ongoing emergency and now Moby has finally taken action to allow the people involved to return home. The solutions offered are certainly not the best, but at the moment they are the only ones available, also because there are no ferries of this size that are suitable for international transport. We will monitor very carefully that the rights of passengers are respected, also in terms of reimbursements. Tomorrow I will meet my colleague from Corsica Flora Mattei to tackle the problem together from a structural point of view».

The activation of the Porto Vecchio-Golfo Aranci with the ship Zaza is scheduled between Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th , which «will be tested as soon as weather conditions allow» and the reassurance from Moby: «On the Ajaccio-Porto Torres you will travel at the same costs as the Bonifacio-Santa Teresa, guaranteeing the regime of maritime territorial continuity».
