Moments of fear , August 14, at the Red Valley Festival in Olbia .

"During singer Macklemore's set - Veronica explains to UnioneSarda.it - someone sprayed pepper spray in the middle of the crowd . My sister felt herself being pushed towards the barriers and when she turned around to check the situation she inhaled the spray which caused her to have a slight respiratory crisis. The same thing happened to her friends and many other people around there, some had time to cover their faces with their shirts while others were helped by the paramedics present ".

"My sister - Veronica continues - was helped by a friend of hers to climb over the barrier because she couldn't breathe and so did many others, however she was abruptly chased away by a member of security. She and her friends then moved away from the fray and wanted to ask for help but the paramedics were rightly busy taking care of the most serious cases, they went in search of the bathrooms while the concert continued normally, then they left the festival in search of a doctor to get checked out".

And then a note also on the Gallura health system: « When they arrived at the medical emergency in Olbia, there was a sign on the door saying that the medical emergency was closed due to lack of doctors . No service in Padru either. Since they were not in such serious condition, they avoided clogging up an emergency room; they just wanted to hear a doctor's opinion to be more reassured and to check that everything was okay because their eyes were visibly very swollen and red. Consequently, they got back on the road and returned to Cagliari».

“Fortunately the situation did not worsen and the girls felt better within a few hours but we wanted to report this situation – Veronica concluded – which could have turned into something much worse: we have seen what happens with pepper spray at concerts, like Sfera’s in 2018”.
