The battle against energy speculation also reaches the Gavoi municipal council.

Where last Thursday a protest motion proposed by the Opposition group Comunidade against the "Tyrrhenian Link" electricity corridor and against the speculative energy assault which is Sardinia as the subject.

During the meeting animated by various interventions between the majority and the minority, two different views emerged regarding Terna's project in the Selargius countryside. Which gave rise to the conflict between the committee and the mayor Graziano Milia.

After Mayor Lai's attempt to postpone the item on the agenda, the firm and decisive position of "Comunidade" defended the measure.

With opposition group leader Luca Sedda and councilor Giovanni Cugusi underlining the importance of giving an institutional signal of protest and resistance against yet another servitude on the island.

An unprecedented majority emerged from the vote, with councilor Fabrizio Lostia, group leader Domenico Marchi and councilor Angela Maria Marchi in favor of the act together with the opposition.

Mayor Salvatore Lai, Environment Councilor Fabio Nurchi and Councilor Giovanni Daga are against. Deputy mayor Rosangela Sedda abstained.

And while the opposition rejoices in "the political result achieved" showing "gratitude towards colleagues in the majority", continuing in its "battle against speculation on the island", Mayor Lai is not on board.

And when contacted by telephone he reiterates: «I am against any speculative action against our land. And I don't accept the opposite message being passed."

Hence the clarifications: «After the threats from some committees to the mayor of Quartu Graziano Milia, a strong stance from minority colleagues would have been appropriate, but there was none».

Lai adds: «For this reason it would have been necessary, in such a delicate phase, to work on a single act that united the entire council. An act that was already ready but we didn't have the opportunity to discuss it together."

This is why we look at it in perspective: «In the next session - concludes the mayor - we will address the topic in a wide-ranging way, fighting to have common paths. With the protection of our environmental landscape at the center, the Sardinians choosing the energy future of their land."
