"Don't stop! He's my only son!" A mother's heartbreaking cry rises from the Raimondo Meledina soccer field , in the San Nicola neighborhood of Ozieri . Doctors and paramedics are trying to revive her child, Gioele Putzu, 10 years old, with a defibrillator. 40 minutes later he stops breathing, crushed by a soccer goal . It's 6:30 p.m., almost an hour after the tragedy that shook two communities yesterday evening , the Logudorese, the scene of the incident, and the Olbia , where the little boy, who was passionate about judo, lived with his mother, Antonella Casula, and his father Ivan Putzu, a well-known barman.
Gioele entered the soccer field with his friends, a regulation surface for adults that can be narrowed, for the benefit of the little ones, with two smaller goals. And there the tragedy: the little boy, for reasons yet to be ascertained, was overwhelmed by the structure and hit in the chest . The alarm was raised immediately with medical assistance and a helicopter, which landed on the field while the green area filled up with police, relatives, acquaintances and then the parish priest, the mayor Marco Peralta. But there was nothing that could be done for the child.
Also on site were the Spresal operators to assess the incident which the Carabinieri are investigating on the orders of the PM, Maria Paola Asara. The magistrate could order an autopsy as early as tomorrow to shed light on the causes of death.
Meanwhile, there is controversy on social media because the tragedy did not put a stop to the celebration organized by the association Beata Vergine del Rimedio , in which Fedez participated. Only a minute of silence to remember what happened and, today, a reduction in what was planned, which will be limited to mass and procession.
In this context, the words of the mayor who spoke on social media of a "moment of silence, of respect for the pain of others and of reflection" are jarring. But yesterday evening, while many were mourning the death of a child of just ten years old, the notes of the party were resounding a few meters away. And many did not accept the justification of "public order" reasons : "They should have cancelled everything, people would have understood".
