Fear in Cagliari: buildings evacuated, cars on fire and businesses surrounded by flames
The fire started on an abandoned plot, the anger of residents and traders: "We have been reporting it for years"

Buildings evacuated, a garage of vehicles at risk of destruction, the risk of cylinder explosion . A high-tension morning was experienced in the triangle between Marongiu, Mandrolisai and Sila streets, in Cagliari in the San Michele district.
The fire broke out in an abandoned lot, where there are household goods, waste and vegetation . In a few moments the flames threatened the buildings between via Mandrolisai and via Sarrabus, forcing firefighters and state police officers to get the tenants out of their homes. The wind and the great heat helped the fire to spread, reaching a parking lot of sandwich trucks and other vehicles, destroying some furniture and a car .
And the fire threatened the cylinders of a condominium complex . Several teams of firefighters, foresters and volunteers were in action to contain the fire. One lane of via Marongiu is closed to traffic. Various businesses threatened by the flames. " For many years we have reported the abandonment of this land without ever being listened to ", denounced residents and business owners. At around 1.30pm, after almost two hours of hard work, the fire was under control.
