From January 1, no Russian gas flows to Europe through Ukraine are expected.

This is according to data from the Ukrainian gas pipeline operator, as the key transit deal between Moscow and Kiev nears completion.

Data from Ukrainian operator Ogtsu show that deliveries through the only entry point for Russian gas into Ukraine will drop to zero starting from January 1, 2025.

However, Europe says it is ready for the imminent end of the transit contract: "The impact on the security of supply of the EU will be limited", underlines a spokeswoman for the European Commission, explaining that the European infrastructure is flexible enough to guarantee supplies of non-Russian gas to the countries of Central and Eastern Europe through "alternative routes".
