What would happen if endangered animals rebelled against humans? What if nature, tired of suffering, decided to take control of its own destiny? With biting irony and a touch of narrative genius, Andrea Pau answers these questions in his new book “Una banda di animali tutta da ridere” (A Laughable Band of Animals). A work that mixes comedy and depth, providing food for thought on the environment, ecology and the fragile balance between man and nature.
The book will be the protagonist on Sunday 8 December at 5.30 pm at the Libreria Tuttestorie in Cagliari, where the author will talk with Roberta Balestrucci to present this story aimed at children but capable of fascinating adults too .
"It's a funny story, but also very serious," explains Pau, who tackles the environmental issue with an original approach. "I start from a paradox: what would happen if animals in danger of extinction realized that they were disappearing from the Earth because of us? For me, they would take revenge. They would plan the greatest massacre of sapiens ever seen."
At the center of the story are Auk and Two, two extraordinary protagonists . Auk, saved from extinction two centuries ago after being frozen in a block of ice, and Two, cloned from her sister's DNA, escaped from a laboratory and united with other threatened animals such as Tiger, Whale, Panda and Turtle. United by a common destiny, these unlikely heroes imagine a global revenge against humanity.
The illustrations, curated by Chiara Vestrucci, complete the book with a vivid and seductive vision. Pau thus invites readers to laugh, but also to reflect on an urgent theme, that of our impact on nature .
