The Empoli-Cagliari case, that “bitter rivalry” denied by the TAR

On March 25, the Sports Events Observatory asked the Cnims (the Security Analysis Committee, another body of the Interior) for an evaluation of the Empoli-Cagliari of April 6. The Committee sent a note to the Prefecture of Florence so that, given the security risks, the sale of tickets to residents of the Island should be prohibited.
Citing reasons related to Fiorentina-Cagliari at the end of 2023 in which, after the match, the two sets of fans came into contact by beating each other in front of a bar. Forgetting, despite the fact that a government body can have any report or documentation, that in December 2024 in the Fiorentina-Cagliari match nothing happened and the two sets of fans behaved very well.
From there, the decision of the Prefecture of Florence - on April 1st - due to "the bitter rivalry between the fan bases" (therefore hypothesizing a hypothetical expedition of the Viola fans to Empoli) to prohibit the sale. The urgent appeal of Cagliari to the TAR against these decisions was a legal triumph, with the doors of the stadium reopened to all (or almost all) and the Court's warnings to the Prefecture for the disproportionate decision compared to the real risks.
The last gasp of the Tuscan Prefecture was to require residents of Sardinia to present their fan card to purchase a ticket. But preventing those who did not have one from requesting it, because the deadline had expired.
