Arm wrestling between the Meloni Government and the Todde Council.

The new clash was triggered by the decision of the Council of Ministers , on the proposal of the Minister for Regional Affairs and Autonomy Roberto Calderoli , to challenge the law of the Sardinia Region n. 20 of 05/12/2024 , on "Urgent measures for the identification of areas and surfaces suitable and unsuitable for the installation and promotion of renewable energy sources plants ". A law that according to the Executive violates three articles of the Constitution, as well as state and European regulations.

After the Council of Ministers' resolution, the reaction of Governor Alessandra Todde was not long in coming, commenting in a note: «During the last session of the Council of Ministers, which took place yesterday evening, the Meloni government decided to challenge our law on suitable and unsuitable areas . It did so without even summoning the President of the Sardinia Region, violating the Sardinian Statute , which recognizes her right to participate in the Council of Ministers when issues of importance to the Region are discussed».

Todde then defends the validity of the law ("a model of protection and planning for the territory") and points the finger at the centre-right forces, "who in Sardinia verbally take a stand against energy speculation, while in Rome they systematically operate against regional interests".

And he reiterates: « The Sardinia Region will defend itself before the judge of the laws as we have done on the subject of differentiated regionalism. As we have repeatedly reiterated, as long as we are at the helm of Sardinia, we will oppose any attempt to threaten, impose vetoes or dictate conditions to the detriment of the Sardinians ».
