A flurry of checks by the Carabinieri of the Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit of Cagliari to verify compliance with health and hygiene regulations in tourist facilities and in restaurants in the capital and its hinterland.
In the last few days, two businesses have been fined. The first is a campsite in the Muravera area, where the HACCP system procedures were not being respected and where the military found serious deficiencies in food storage and in protection measures against insects and pests. At the end of the inspection, the owner was fined 2,000 euros.
Other irregularities were discovered in a kiosk in the Porto Columbu area, which was seized. Here, the NAS found that the food and beverage service was carried out without the necessary seasonal authorization and operated in a public area. In particular, the premises had an equipped kitchen, an outdoor area for customers and a bar area, but lacked basic hygiene requirements.
During the inspection, 20 kg of food and 100 liters of beverages were also seized, due to serious violations of the hygiene and health standards required by the HACCP system. The total value of the seizure, which includes the property and the goods, was estimated at around 300,000 euros. At the end of the inspection, administrative sanctions totaling 5,000 euros were imposed.
