The 17-metre boat that caught fire this morning in front of the Port of Teulada has sunk. The vessel, owned by an Italian but registered in England, was moored at the marina when, for unknown reasons, the fire broke out.
The moorers intervened immediately and, to prevent the flames from spreading to other boats, they transported her out of the port with two inflatable boats.
The firefighters and the port authority arrived on site. A team on land from the Carbonia detachment and the Nautical and Diver specialists from the Cagliari port detachment are at work.
Despite attempts by firefighters to contain the flames, the boat sank. Fortunately there are no pollution problems and there is no damage to other boats. Now what remains of the sailboat will have to be removed by the owner.
