Next year the coast of San Vero Milis will also be accessible to the disabled. This is the promise that Mayor Luigi Tedeschi made to some members of the association Sardegna Accessibile led by President Alfio Uda, who for years has been at the forefront of making the Island more welcoming and comfortable for those who experience it from a different perspective.
The meeting with the mayor has been requested several times, in light of the many inconveniences present in all the San Vero coastlines for those with mobility problems. Only yesterday, however, were the members listened to and all were wearing the association's t-shirt. "We were finally able to explain what happens when someone confined to a wheelchair tries to reach the shore - vents Irene Depalmas of the association, but also the mother of a disabled child - We were able to reiterate the absence of walkways, bathrooms and parking. We also showed videos and photos of everything that happens once a disabled person in a wheelchair tries in vain to get close to the beach. The meeting - it continues - was useful precisely because we explained in detail what is missing and what people with mobility problems need".
The members reiterated to Mayor Tedeschi that they are available to help the Municipality to set up what is needed : "We explained that an equipped solarium is needed, as there is in many other coastlines - continues Depalmas - But also that it is necessary to extend all the walkways that today are interrupted halfway along the beach or that are interrupted by rocks. The mayor promised all of us that from next June, disabled people who want to reach the coast will no longer have any problems. All we can do is wait and hope".
