The fake carabiniere scam strikes again in Oristano . And the one who deceives the elderly woman, once again, is a Campanian on a trip to Sardinia. A 31-year-old was arrested in Castel Volturno (Caserta) in an operation conducted by the carabinieri of Oristano and Mondragone.
The pattern is the usual one. The elderly woman receives a phone call from two people who identify themselves as a lawyer and a marshal: "Your daughter hit a pedestrian, to avoid arrest we need 35 thousand euros" . To make it all more credible, the elderly woman was also made to hear the audio of a woman who was begging: "Help, help" .
The elderly woman, very scared and confused, was convinced that it was her daughter's voice. Then, as expected, the second phase of the scam. A man shows up at the house pretending to be her daughter's lawyer, to whom the woman hands over everything she has. He collects cash, valuables, a credit card with pin and a cell phone . Only after speaking to her daughter does she realize it was a scam. Then the complaint and the investigation, culminating in the arrest.
