At Poetto in Cagliari, the redevelopment work on the seven structures that house public toilets has begun.

"After a long wait," explains Luisa Giua Marassi , Councilor for Urban Ecology, Environment and Public Parks with responsibility for the maintenance of the seafront, "we are finally giving back to the city and the many beach-goers a system of services capable of guaranteeing accessibility and decorum."

The project includes the maintenance of all structures: surfaces, fixtures, handrails and ropes, and the replacement of non-recoverable materials. These are long-awaited interventions that will allow a more sustainable use of the entire promenade.

"This is a real turning point," continues the councilor: "The waterfront, in fact, remains one of the most important administrative priorities for Cagliari, not only because it represents a prestigious tourist showcase but also because it fully embodies the landscape identity of our city."

The intervention plan also includes the scheduling of the emptying and cleaning of the sand traps and the planning of the vacuum truck operations. To complete the project, the external surfaces of the twenty niches that house the Enel equipment will also be treated. A more specific intervention will be implemented later for the toilets of Marina Piccola which, pending its revision, will finally see the creation of showers for women, which were completely missing, with a view to restoring privacy and gender equality.

"The objectives - continues the councilor - that await us are many, but for each of them specific interventions are already underway that aim to improve our coastline, in terms of use, protection and promotion. In this regard I would also like to mention the launch of a campaign against the abandonment of waste (which will also have a focus on the beach), the finalization of the Tuvariam project for the protection of the dune system, the reopening of the beach for dogs and, last but not least, the review of the Coastal Use Plan for the development of planning activities, with tourist accommodation purposes . It is the result of a collegial work that sees the collaboration of the municipal offices and other colleagues of the Council, for a constantly improving scenario and with an active dialogue with the community".
