In Cagliari the first seizure of "pink cocaine" on the Island. Also in prison is a 28-year-old from the capital, suspected of contributing to the spread of the new drug in Sardinia. The man, already known to the police, was identified at the end of an investigation that began after some reports insisting on the presence of this new drug on the Island. The operation was developed through careful monitoring of drug consumption environments, which allowed the distribution network to be traced. The young man was identified as the main suspect.
“Pink cocaine”, originally emerging on the South American market, made its appearance in Europe through the Spanish nightlife, later spreading to Italy. It is currently one of the most popular drugs and, given its exclusivity, is sold at high prices. Also known as "tusi" or 2C (from the name of the psychoactive molecule 2C-B), this synthetic substance is particularly insidious. In fact, differently from what its name might suggest, this new drug rarely contains cocaine and its basic composition is made up of a mix of ketamine and ecstasy (MDMA), to which opioids and other psychoactive substances can also be added. The touch of color is then obtained through a food coloring that, in addition to giving it an often fruity smell, makes it more attractive to the eye. Its variability makes it extremely dangerous, with unpredictable effects that can cause, even in small doses, serious damage to health and, in some cases, be lethal.
The arrest occurred as he was leaving his home. The drugs were found hidden inside a modified spray can: the “loot” was approximately 80 grams of MDMA, 35 grams of “pink cocaine”, as well as 2,080 euros in cash, presumably the proceeds of the illegal activity. The search then moved to the house, where a further 4,860 euros in cash, just under 30 grams of MDMA and 6 grams of pink cocaine were seized. The analyses conducted by the RIS of Cagliari confirmed the quality of the seized drugs. The man was taken to the prison of Uta.
