Over the past weekend, the Carabinieri of Cagliari have intensified checks throughout the province, with the aim of combating violations related to drunk driving, drug use and traffic violations. The operation involved over 200 people and 164 vehicles.

The balance of the operations is 37 fines issued for violations of the Highway Code and several reports in a state of freedom. In Serrenti, a man from Cagliari was found positive to the breathalyzer with alcohol levels above the permitted limits, with immediate withdrawal of the license and seizure of the vehicle.

In Villacidro, another individual refused alcohol and drug tests, resulting in the withdrawal of his license and a report to the Judicial Authority.

Similar measures have also been taken in Quartu and Decimomannu, where several motorists have seen their licenses revoked or their vehicles seized.

In addition to driving under the influence of alcohol, the Carabinieri reported numerous people for possession of narcotics and weapons. In Cagliari, a young man was found with a switchblade, while another, originally from Tunisia, was reported for possession of synthetic drugs. The military also issued fines for driving without a license and for violations by those who did not respect the limitations imposed by alternative measures to detention .
