The situation in the fields is becoming more and more dramatic: the drought gives no respite, it has practically not rained for over a year with very heavy damage also in the vineyards, olive groves and other typical crops of the area. The municipal council of Settimo San Pietro has proclaimed the state of natural disaster. The damage was also reported by Laore. Damage linked to the continuation of the drought which has continued in the area since November last year. Damage that affects not only agriculture but also livestock. A situation also reported by Coldiretti.
Yesterday, as mentioned, the council met under the presidency of mayor Gigi Puddu and approved the resolution with unanimous votes. «The situation – says Stefano Atzori, councilor for agriculture of the Municipality – is dramatic with repercussions on the next harvests. An intervention by the Region is absolutely necessary in favor of those who risk earning very little after a year of work. Drought and heat give no respite with agriculture and pastoralism truly on its knees."
