The Coast Guard remains vigilant in La Maddalena after yesterday's diesel spill in the port . The alarm was raised by a leak in a tanker carrying fuel destined for the island's distributors.

Controls will remain tight today with patrols by naval units, with sampling of water. Tomorrow the activities will continue with analysis of satellite images that the Coast Guard has requested from the European agency EMSA.
"The day after tomorrow, at the end of the emergency event - says the Maritime Director Captain of the Vessel Gianluca D'agostino - a check will be carried out from above with our aircraft equipped with environmental remote sensing devices (SLAR). Only at the end of this continuous and punctual cycle of checks will we be able to officially define this environmental emergency as closed which, however, to date does not seem to have put the quality of our waters at risk".
