Calamosca at the mercy of the uncivilized: parties at night, waste during the day
Alarm especially on weekends. Bathers: «Rubbish even from dinghies»During the day it is a very popular alternative to Poetto, both by loyal bathers and tourists, both Italian and foreign. In the evening, however, the Calamosca beach becomes a very popular meeting place, mainly among young people but not only. There would be nothing wrong if the beach wasn't covered in rubbish too often. Only the passage of municipal cleaning workers during the night allows it to be protected from degradation.
Too uncivilized
The location is one of the most evocative in the city for admiring the sunset, and when the sun begins to set beyond the Calamosca tower, many people gather to eat a pizza by the sea and drink with friends. Not everyone, however, ends their evenings as they should: taking away their waste or throwing it in the appropriate bins. There are three ecological islands on the coast, but some, out of laziness or rudeness, don't bother using them. A few days ago, following a party, the lifeguard's rescue vehicle was mistaken for a real waste container. The next morning the lifeguard found it covered in empty glasses, beer and spirits bottles, cigarette packs and a bag full of other waste.
The sad scenario was seen by everyone present at the time. In truth, some people would probably like to have the possibility of throwing the remains of their evenings in Calamosca into the bins, but finding them already full of rubbish accumulated throughout the day, they end up contenting themselves with piling up their stuff near the ecological islands. When it's good, inside a closed bag, otherwise pizza boxes, bottles, cans and bottles are thrown away as they come, and all it takes is for a little wind to blow at night to scatter the lighter objects in the sand.
The bathers
«From here you can see one of the most beautiful sunsets, after 8.30pm the beach fills up with people who come to spend the evening and they are rightly free to do so, but more bins would be needed to allow everyone to be able to throw away their waste», he explains Cristina Farris, who works in the only kiosk on the beach and knows the habits of her visitors well. «The Municipality operators, however, do a truly exceptional job. When I arrive at work, at 7 in the morning, the coast is often perfectly clean." A point on which many beachgoers also agree: "We should make a statue of him." However, when waste is thrown away after its passage there is nothing that can be done, and people just have to live with the rudeness of others or dispose of the bags themselves. A situation that occurs especially after the weekend revelry. But the dirt problem also has another cause. This was reported by one of the most loyal bathers. "Rubbish is also dumped from dinghies and boats which then reaches the shore."
