Right arm stretched towards the sky: a Roman and fascist salute. The gesture was made this morning in Cagliari, in via Sonnino, in front of the Parco delle Rimembranze.

Not an action carried out in “splendid” solitude, gone unnoticed. Because in front of the nostalgic for the Duce there was the band of the Sassari Brigade that performed the Mameli anthem for the celebration of the Armed Forces Day. No one approached him, no one contested him: arm outstretched until the end.

An action that disgusts and alarms the representatives of Memoratu, an anti-fascist youth association and Arci club whose members have all participated in trips to Holocaust sites, so as not to forget: "What is striking about what happened this morning in Cagliari," explains the president, Federico Orrù, "is the indifference, which is what has unleashed the worst horrors in the past. No one, faced with a fascist salute, did anything this morning. And yet many saw it. The climate that is establishing itself at a national level," Orrù emphasizes, "is legitimizing actions like this. And we cannot turn our heads the other way. We must denounce it."
