The church inside the cemetery of San Michele has been closed for over four years. Initially, the stop to funerals inside was due to Covid, but then the reason became structural problems: the detachment of plaster led not only to the fall of debris inside, but also to a further fall of materials from the external cornices. The entire church is now fenced off and cordoned off both in front of the entrance and under the steps, but the Municipality reassures that the work should begin soon .

"A €150,000 extraordinary maintenance project has just been prepared, which will be put out to tender in the immediate future," announced Deputy Mayor Maria Cristina Mancini, who is also responsible for cemeteries. Since 2020, funerals have all been held in the colonnade at the entrance, but the hope is that they will soon resume inside the church: " We hope to be able to reopen it in 2025 ," was the timeframe given by Mancini. We are also waiting for the completion of the work on the new burial niches, currently being built next to the chapel.
