The initiative that will be implemented on Tuesday is not just a symbolic gesture. The Palazzo Ducale illuminated in blue is an invitation to the entire community of Sassari to reflect on the importance of prevention and solidarity towards those who find themselves in a moment of fragility.
The Municipality of Sassari adheres to the awareness campaign and collaborates with Voce Amica Sassari ODV all year round, not only on World Suicide Prevention Day.
the President of Voce Amica Sassari ODV, Annalisa Masala, says: "The blue light that will illuminate Palazzo Ducale is a symbol of hope, an invitation not to look the other way and to recognize the value of listening and prevention. It is also a strong call for collaboration between institutions and associations like ours, which every day is committed to offering support to those who are going through moments of crisis".
The Councilor for Social Policies, Lalla Careddu, highlighted the alarming numbers: "The data available to Voce Amica Sassari, according to which there was a 70% increase in requests for help to volunteers after the pandemic, is a symptom of the large pockets of hardship and loneliness that we have to deal with. Being able to deal with the emergency, also thanks to the presence of tools like Voce Amica Sassari, is fundamental. But it is necessary to work first and foremost on prevention, on building a community that is increasingly sensitive and caring towards those in difficulty. But even more, we must make an effort to remove or eliminate all the obstacles that prevent many people from emancipating themselves from conditions of marginalization".
