The "meticulous work" carried out by the experts "requires a profound re-evaluation of the entire procedure, perhaps with possible new investigations and acquisitions" , the object of which "obviously cannot be made public".

This was written in a short note by the Acting Prosecutor of Trieste, Federico Frezza, referring to the filing of the expert report carried out by consultants Cristina Cattaneo, Vanin, Leone and Tambuzzi on the body of Liliana Resinovich . Frezza also recalls that the prosecutor assigned to the proceedings on the death of Liliana Resinovich is no longer in service at the Prosecutor's Office and that he has already assigned the proceedings to another prosecutor, "who is already working on the file".

The 63-year-old woman, who disappeared in Trieste on December 14, 2021 and whose body was found the following January 5 in the woods of the former psychiatric hospital, was suffocated according to experts . Her head was in two transparent food-type bags tied around her neck with a string and her body in two large black bags, of the kind used for the collection of solid urban waste, one inserted from above and the other from below.

The hypothesis is an indiscretion leaked while waiting to read the medical-legal report on Liliana's exhumed remains, filed two days ago at the Public Prosecutor's Office in Trieste.

It is not a completely new hypothesis: the suicide theory supported by the Prosecutor's Office had always raised strong doubts . It had not even convinced the investigating judge of the Court, Luigi Dainotti, who had practically dismantled it. The investigating judge had identified over twenty points to be investigated. Starting from the crime to which the file should be registered up to the exhumation of the remains from the Sant'Anna cemetery where they had been buried (exhumation which took place on 13 February 2024).

The theory of suffocation caused by third parties had already been discussed a few days ago by the television program Quarto grado and subsequently also by Liliana's friend, Claudio Sterpin, who has always maintained that Liliana was determined to go and live with him . During a speech on another program, Sterpin had gone so far as to go into detail: «Lilly was first beaten by someone, then probably suffocated with a pillow, we need to understand by whom» .

A pillow that, according to the man, was in the house that Liliana shared with her husband, Sebastiano Visintin, and later disappeared . However, these are just rumors.

The expert report should establish approximately the date of Liliana's death (the first medical-legal report indicated that death had occurred 48-60 hours before Liliana's body was found in the woods) and the nature of the signs and lesions found on the body . In fact, there has been talk several times of various small lesions that had been found on Liliana's body - on the face, for example - and that had never been evaluated with the necessary care. According to leaks, in particular, a rumor - also circulating in recent days - could be confirmed, according to which a slight fracture to the lamina of the second thoracic vertebra had emerged.
