Gian Paolo Ormezzano, one of the most famous and historic names in Italian journalism, died today in Turin at the age of 89. During his very long career, he was the director, from 1974 to 1979, of the daily newspaper Tuttosport, where he began his journalistic career .
He was then transferred to La Stampa where he was a correspondent until 1991, when he retired. But even after that he continued his prolific journalistic activity, among others with Guerin Sportivo and Famiglia Cristiana. He followed the main sporting and non-sporting events for over half a century and wrote several books.
Ormezzano also played many sports and was a huge Torino fan. He leaves behind his wife and three children, one of whom is a journalist.
