Central Italy in the grip of bad weather, with rain and flooding especially in Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna.

The weather alert is red for the provinces of Florence, Prato, Pistoia and Pisa: "The population is invited to be extremely cautious and to limit their movements immediately. The Arno River is under special surveillance in these hours", says the regional Civil Protection. In the last few hours, precipitation has been recorded over much of the territory with cumulative amounts of up to 27.8 millimeters in Florence.

In the Florentine section, the Arno, which in the morning had exceeded the first warning level, has reached 3.64 meters. The water flow is now at 1,121.50 cubic meters per second. There is also a risk of flooding in Pisa. In Prato, all commercial and productive activities in the city are closed from now until midnight.

In Sesto Fiorentino the Rimaggio torrent overflowed in the center, in Piazza del Mercato, flooding the adjacent streets. But the heavy rains that have been going on since this morning have also caused significant flooding in other areas of the city.

Red alert also in Emilia-Romagna where there have been small landslides, mudslides, some flooding, for now contained, in the Bologna area.
