Clean sweep in the first phase of the Europe Cup: Dinamo conquers Wloclawek and beats Anwil, 86-83. First place mathematically and therefore the team from Sassari will end up in the group with Cholet and Bilbao.
Sassari without winger Udom (operated for a broken right toe) and with Renfro still injured and unusable. Instead, the home team is without Nelson.
The game starts with some trivial errors in passing and defense: 11-6 at 5' for the Poles. Sassari also misses a few open triples and Halilovic suffers too much from Ongenda. Vincini comes in and physically makes himself felt more under the basket and shortly after the others come in from the bench. Anwil can't escape, but Banco can't get closer than two baskets. They finally do it in the second quarter with a triple by Sokolowski: 25-24 at 15'. Ongenda leaves due to injury. Sassari overtakes and tries to escape with free throws by Tambone and Veronesi: 27-32 at 18'. It's the Italians of Banco who produce the extension, again from the free throw line: +8 at 19'. The Poles halve before the break.
Upon returning, Anwil is more aggressive and overtakes: 47-44 at 26'. Coach Markovic goes to the Italian quintet with Sokolowski as a "4" but the referees whistle a non-existent foul in attack on Vincini who also gets a technical. Halilovic returns and the Poles regain the upper hand on the rebounds. The home team extends its lead to +8. It is Veronesi's triples that prevent Anwil from taking off.
The last quarter begins with Bendzius as a pivot in a small quintet where there are many changes in defense. Veronesi from the free throw line puts Dinamo ahead again: 62-63 at 32'. Very balanced game: Turner enters and Anwil above: 72-71 at 36'. Sassari break signed by Halilovic and Bendzius: 72-76 at 38'. Tambone's triple gives the +8, Anwil scores two bombs, Sokolowski and Bendzius close it definitively, because the +3 with less than two seconds left does not allow Anwil a good shot.
