Maurizio Mariani is the referee called to officiate Cagliari-Verona on Friday at 20.45, a match valid for the 14th day of the Serie A championship.

Born in 1982, from the Aprilia section, Mariani is a long-time referee, an international referee who this year also refereed two Champions League matches, as well as the Milan derby and Inter-Napoli.

One of the most experienced Italian referees, in short, who however comes from a week of stoppage after the very dubious penalty awarded to Inter in the direct clash with Napoli and missed by Calhanoglu. Last weekend it was only assigned to Avar.

Mariani has refereed Cagliari 14 times in Serie A (never this year), with 3 wins, 4 draws and 7 defeats for the Sardinians. He has also refereed the rossoblù once in Serie B, in the first leg of the 2023 playoffs against Bari, which ended 1-1. In the matches, there were 31 yellow cards and 5 red cards for Cagliari, as well as two penalties in favor of the rossoblù.

The linesmen are Palermo and Cipriani, the fourth official is Fourneau, at the VAR there is Nasca, Avar Paterna.
