During the Christmas period, Sardinians will spend 726 million euros, 41 million more than Christmas 2023.

This is what we read in the estimates of Confartigianato Sardegna , which in a report released on December 17 also lists the details of the purchases that will be made on the Island. In particular, just over half a billion euros (501 million) will be allocated to food and drinks and 225 million to other products and services typical of the Holidays.

From the markets and supermarkets, Confartigianato underlines, the inhabitants of the Island will stock up on bread, pasta, meat, cured meats, cheeses, sweets, wines «and all the other
products of the immense "deposit" of the food economy of Sardinia
,
combined with the wide range of products and services produced by the companies
artisans of artistic, typical and traditional craftsmanship, will end up
on Sardinian tables and under the Tree".

Again according to Confartigianato estimates, the expenditure will be divided as follows: in Cagliari and its province 196 million euros will be spent (135 on food and drinks and 61 on typical Christmas products and services), in Nuoro 91 (63 and 28), in Oristano 67 (46 and 21), in Southern Sardinia 149 (103 and 46) and in Sassari and Gallura 222 (154 and 69).

Furthermore, the report states that local companies producing products that will end up on the tables of Sardinians are distributed as follows: Cagliari 1,948 companies with 4,999 employees, Nuoro 1,330 and 3,197, Oristano 832 and 1,823, Sassari-Gallura 2,700 and 6,747, South Sardinia 1,640 and 3,888, for a total of over 8,400 companies.

This year too, the artisan association is promoting the campaign “Acquistiamo locale”, an invitation «to give and to treat yourself to products with artisan value made in Sardinia and made in Italy, an expression of the creativity and uniqueness of the businesses of the many, different Sardinian and national territories».
«The purchase of these products and services - underlines Giacomo Meloni , President of Confartigianato Sardegna - is an ethical choice for the territory, a gesture that must become part of everyone's daily life, because it allows us to support businesses and their workers together with the well-being of the entire community and to contribute to the quality Made in Sardinia that makes the artisans and small businesses of our Island and our Country unique in the world».
«Choosing a gift produced by an artisan company - echoes Daniele Serra , Secretary of Confartigianato Sardegna - is a gesture that enhances work, creativity, the environment and the community».
