The return flight to the United Arab Emirates has been scheduled for tomorrow for the group of Italians who remained stranded on the island of Socotra, in Yemen. Our compatriots have already been warned and the situation currently presents no further problems.

Although this is an area of the world "strongly discouraged" by the Farnesina, tour operators still organize trips off the coast of Yemen. “We trusted and now we have been blocked for a week,” said a 40-year-old from Brescia who is among the 15 Italians. The group - made up of people from Milan, Bergamo, a person from Rimini and some Venetians - had left Abu Dhabi on 23 April with the only weekly flight to the island but, due to the civil war that had been going on for years now, they no longer knew how to return. Bad weather had added to the complex situation from a geopolitical point of view.

Regarding the island of Socotra, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its "Safe Travel" website reminds us that "it is absolutely not recommended to travel in the current situation" and even the Italian Embassy in Sana'a has suspended its activities until further notice. I notify.
